You need to find rate:

Rate = distance per time as in miles per hour or meters per second...or in this case miles per minute.

2.4 miles per 3.6 minutes:

2.4 mi / 3.6 min = .667 miles per minute

(x 60 for mph = 40 mph --- perfectly reasonable speed)

I think the question is
If im on a roller coaster that travels 2.4 miles in 3.6 minutes. How many miles do i go a minute?

Then the answer is 2.4miles/3.6minutes

You have the question confused. Do you mean 2.4 miles per hour, and you are on the coaster 3.6 minutes. If so, divide 3.6 by 60 (the minutes in an hour), then take that number times 2.4

ur right.
time for 2.4 miles = 3.6 min
time for 1 mile = 3.6/2.4
(divide both sides by 2.4)
=3/2 = 1.5 min

you have to convert your 2.4 mph (miles per Hour) into minutes.

2.4 miles/60 minutes = x miles/3.6 minutes

cross multiply:

8.64 = 60x

x = 0.144 miles per minute
