I have a 5 year old chihuahua (male) that gets along with most other dogs - I don't want another dog, but he would probably be much happier if he had a playmate - any ferret owners out there?

We discovered that Dewey got along with dogs the same way he got along with us. Everyone is free game for the sneak attack! LOL He loved cats a little too much the perv so they hated him. And all in he got along as well as he was going to. We got the dog toward the end of Dewey's life. To spite the dog he drank out of his dish and would look at him everytime. And he crawled into the dogs cage to die. In the end we pictured him saying with his last breath he stabbath thee! LOl

I have 3 male ferrets and unfortunately had 1 male chihuahua and lost it, and recently got another female chihuahua. They get/got along fine with both of them. The ferrets tend to nip or bite when they play and since they have tougher skin they are not as sensitive. They nip at the chihuahua when they are playing not realizing it is more sensitive. The chihuahua only seems to mind it for a second and they keep playing.

surely not - even with if the CHi were too small to kill the ferret, the detrimental ferret would stay in concern of its existence for all time - that rigidity on my own can make an animal very sickly, as well as devlop temperament topics. you do not desire a ferret that biites because this is continuously in a panic. they could scent a predator, even with in the journey that they in no way see it. A dogs that has been bred to seek small rodents, and does an admirable interest contained in the kinfolk organization isn't a suitable housemate for a ferret. in case you want to have small rodents, do this - yet in ordinary words once the Chi has gone to puppy heaven - for now, please leave the ferrets out of the image, or think ofyou've got a situation no remember what you do.

I have chihuahuas, no ferrets. Not sure if they would get along or not. I know my chis do not like cats. If you know someone who has a ferret, you could ask them to bring it over and introduce them to each other and see how the chihuahua would act with the ferret.

I don't own a ferret, but I have had friends who owned them. It's best, if you decide to get one to purchase it when it is young, so that it can get used to the dog and the people around it. Ferrets are very agressive when they are trained improperly, but they make great pets. Talk to pet shop employees like the ones at Petco, they know a lot and they're very helpful. Hope this helps!!

I have three female chihuahuas and two male ferrets.

When the fuzzies are out, the chihuahuas head for high ground. Unfortunately, the fuzzies can climb LOL!

My chihuahuas really don't care for them. I watch them like a hawk and I can tell you that my chihuahuas do not like getting nipped on the rear by the fuzzies (wanting to play)

I have one chihuahua (we call her Aunt Minnie) who follows them around and will look at me like "See what they did?"
(Dustin, my sable loves to turn over the dogs water)

Let them get acquainted slowly....and good luck.
Ferrets are the greatest pets!!!

we have 2 chihuahuas our male was 2 years old and we bought a female that was quite young we introduced first by cages side by side.now after 6 months they are in their own 6 ft tall cage but the female still lets him know whose boss....females have been noted to kill males if they don't want to mate...i wouldnt risk a friend just to have a ferret....
