If you do not know how to play my I help save you money. Buy a pair of sticks and a drum pad. That will run you about $20-$40. Learn your basics hand technique, rudiments, etc. Take some lessons. It took me years to figure it all out and I am not even good, I can get by, but good is not what i am. Later on you will find that it is easier than buying a trapset and fumbling aroud and destroying drumheads.

Do you know how to play them? If not, get a practice pad. This is a good way to learn without damaging your drums or making a lot of noise when you practice your rolls and stuff.

You need sticks too.

after you get the kit, get a practice pad. The practice pads come in both electric (so you can hook headphones to it) and regular. The regular ones are cheap, so I'd go with that.

Then you can get the fun stuff . . . different types of sticks, brushes, even a cowbell (everyone needs more cowbell). However, first you should get a metronome, good earplugs and some rhythm!

Extra drum sticks and covers for the set. You may want to buy your roommates ear plugs if you have roommates. LOL
