My mom wanted me to start working out w/her because her blood pressure was dangerously high. So we signed up, and we started working out. She was on the treadmill and would walk at a steady pace for about 30 minutes a day. Well one morning when she woke up...both of her ankles were really swollen...w/alot of fluid on them. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is? They are still that way. Thanks.

My Mom also has severe high blood pressure, she was also getting migraines. Her legs starting swelling like she was pregnant and her hands and feet started to peel; turns out she had Graves Disease. It's a disease that effects your thyroid, can be hyper active (high blood pressure) or hypo active (low blood pressure). I would have your Mom go to the doctor right away and have them test her thyroid. Edema or swelling is also a sign of kidney failure. I would limit the amount of exercise, you don't want to get her blood pressure too high, she could go into cardiac arrest. Wait until you go to the doctor. What I am listing are extreme cases, I'm not a Doctor so I can't diagnose. Just past experiences.

She probably is retaining water. She should see a doctor ASAP. He or she will probably prescribe water pills for her.
Tell her to keep working out.

I know when I excerise my hands blow up especially in the heat.

I hope it get better.

She suffers from edema. She needs to see her doctor and get a prescription for a diuretic.
