Yes. Zinc is the main ingredient for most cold lounges. And if it doesn't work, at least there's no harm in it. But zinc apparently has no effect on the flu.

I've heard that it does and I've heard that it really doesn't. My daughter has a cold and I could feel one coming on so I got this zinc stuff that you apply right inside your nose. It's called Zicam, I figure it's worth a try. If you take zinc then don't wait until the cold is in full force, take it as soon as you have the slightest symptom and then continue taking it throughout the cold and then for a couple of days after the cold seems to be over.

Nope. Latest scientific evidence is that it does nothing to shorten the length or lessen the symptoms of the common cold.

If you take it as soon as you get that first tickle of a cold, it can help shorten the length…but if you don’t take it with food, it can upset your stomach. I like cold-eze.
