There are many freedoms we have here that many in other countries don't have. I can go to Walmart or Sears.
I can go to the church of my choice.
I can go out and party where I want.
I can talk bad or good about any politician that I want. Try that in China and see how fast you disappear.
I can spend the time surfing the net or watching TV.
I can hold what ever job I want or can do and no one will tell me what I can or cant do.
I have the freedom to get an education and make as much money as I can.
This is the land of opportunity and only a persons laziness, or lack of imagination holds them back and keeps them from doing something great with their lives.

I love this country, the land is beautiful as it is everywhere on earth. The cultures are lovely. However, I prefer to be "proud" of things that are accomplished, not things that are handed to me. I am not proud of being whatever "race" I am, I'm not proud of my teeth or my eyecolor, etc. Those are things that just "are". For example though I am proud of how Americans came together to help eachother in New York in '01 & I'm proud that fellow citizens opened their homes to Katrina victims. And I'm proud when I see someone pull over to help a broken down motorist - those types of things make me proud.

yes, i believe we do live in the greatest nation on earth, there is not a nation which compares. I think that the proper term is heregon. A country which is so much more powerful than the rest that it causes a time of relative peace. If you look the world has had the least amount of wars in the last 60 years than that of almost anyother period in history. other nations have formed their government based on our Constitution. We beleive in the rights of everybody. We fight wars over the human rights. I think that our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, the 2 most influental documents in history, are 2 reasons we should all be proud to be americans. Here you can speak out against the government, and even though i disagree with peoples opinions i will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

I was born in Germany and became a naturalized American citizen after tons of political studying in encyclopedias and a grueling test by a nasty questioner who didn't even stick to the questions on the list I was given (as I suspected she wouldn't) After successfully jumping through all those hoops in a three-ring circus, passing the test, and getting sworn in, of course I'm proud to be an American!!!

Freedom and the ability to live the life I want.
America is not perfect but is has the rule of law and a good standard of living. In America, ANYONE has the chance to succeed and live the life they choose; it doesn´t matter where you´re from, how much money you have, your skin color, or what your last name is - your success and choices in life are completely up to you. No other country in the world offers what America offers.
