Yes I do agree some people have forgotten the real meaning of christmas. It's more about gifts then the birth of Jesus. Thats why I like christmas eve better. In my house the eve is all about family, we have a big dinner which we spend all day cooking and just spending time together. For children christmas is about santa and gifts.

Yeah…we’ve lost site of the reason for the season…

Considering the actual reason why we celebrate Christmas in the first place (the birth of Christ) happened in the spring and not the winter…considering that the Romans changed the date to match an already existing festival held for Janus (see January)…considering the pagan ritual of decorating our homes with evergreen…considering the fat man in red sitting in malls to listen to children rattle off what new neat-o toy they must have under the tree this year…considering that Christmas has emerged from a silent night in a stable into a multi-billion dollar industry…

Still, it’s nice to get a day off of work…

Nowhere in the Bible is Christmas mentioned. Jesus only asked us to remember his death. Christmas is a man made tradition that has been banned many times throughout the history. From the secular point of view...why put yourself thru the financial stress and strain by buying gifts for the people that you may not even like.

absolutely, that is one reason I don't like Christmas. People forget what it really means. All people do is see who can spend the most on gifts. who can outdo who. It's just a big fight over gifts!!! So therefore Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, family, friends get together for dinner. No gifts to worry about, no financial strain.

i think people have become too obsessed with christmas shopping and "what should i get for this person?" and "what do i want?" these days, it seems like it's all about the gifts. what a shame.
