Meditation is training for that, both for concentration and also for stability. It takes time though. It's much easier to learn how to meditate in a group, so if that interests you look around for a teacher or other people to sit with.

In the meantime, try listening to instrumental music like classical, jazz, traditional/world and the like. That can give the part of the brain that wants to wander about something to play with and lets the rest of your brain focus better.

Also pay attention to what you're eating and drinking and how that relates to your concentration. Different foods can affect your clarity. Experiment with keeping a food diary for a week or two -- write down every single thing you eat and drink in a column and how you're feeling throughout the day in another. You might notice some interesting correlations, especially things that show up an hour or two later.

It's all about focusing. Try to enjoy everything you do or have to do. Always think that you are doing this thing because it is important in order to achieve anything else...and enjoy the way. This is the only manner that you can concentrate in one thing at a time.
