To take chewing gum off clothes, place the item of clothing in a plastic bag, then freeze it for about an hour. Take the clothing out of the freezer, then bend the fabric across the stain to crack the gum. Chip off the pieces with a dull knife.

If that doesn´t work, let the gum return to room temperature then dampen a cloth with dry-cleaning solution, lighter fluid, salad oil or peanut butter and rub on the gum, then work it off with a dull knife. Launder as usual.

I've used ice and peanut butter in situations like yours. It was a while ago, but if I remember correctly, the peanut butter worked better but it did leave a small oil spot that did eventually wash out. The ice was cleaner but I don't think it worked quite as well.

There is this stuff called goo gone which works GREAT on gum. I use it all of the time to get gum out of my carpet ( I have 4 kids) You can buy it at wal mart, and I have seen it at home depot too, and it's pretty inexpensive. It's great stuff to have around the house because it works great on removing lots of different things!

apply ice for 20 minutes. Put ice in a ziploc so the water doesn't mess up your coat and then peel off

take it to a cleaner and ask them to do it. Seriously, I got gum on an expensive leather coat and tried to get it off myself and I almost ruined the coat. It shouldn't cost too much.
