The coloured bar that runs across the bottom of your screen with the START button it - sometimes it can get dragged around the screen or be 'hidden'. To customise your task bar - right click on it and select properties to read over what you can do. (Good Luck).

I must say - I often see answers to basic IT questions that are sarcastic and unhelpful - do people forget that there are such things as beginners!!?? Not everyone is an IT whizz and we have to learn! It would put me off asking any questions!!!

It could be located on the bottom, or the top, or either side. It is the bar with the "start" button on it. And usually is on the bottom but you can "grab it" and move it to any side or the top.
