You know, it wasn't movie romantic, but it was in our own way.
We never dated but we were best friends. He was having one of the most rough days of his life and I was just there with him consoling him. I finally got him to a point where he was feeling better about the world so I gave him a hug as he left to go to class. As I was hugging him he asked me if I would marry him. I said yes and he kissed me on the forehead. (our first "kiss") It wasn't any where special or anything extravagant, but it came from the overflow of his heart and it came at a time when we both knew that it was supposed to be like this forever.

My Husband proposed to me while we were both walking up a close stairway going to his sisters flat to visit her!
No, it was not a romantic setting at all, but I said yes and on the Christmas day of that year, he gave me a huge bouquet of flowers as well as my Christmas present, then he went down on one knee, said how much he loved me and wanted to marry me and placed our engagement ring on my finger.
Sadly we are separating now, but our marriage lasted 30 years so not bad for such an unromantic proposal, and I'm happy to say he was always romantic after that and would surprise me on many many occasion's with lots of romantic gestures and special treats.
So its not so much about how romantic a setting a marriage proposal is made, its more about the love and romance that continues after that.

LOL!!! My husband was in a bowling league and on a break I made some sort of comment (can't remember what) and he said "If you feel that way you should marry me." I said "You shouldn't say things like that or I might take you up on it." I said "Are you serious?" He said "Yes" and I said "OK, I'll marry you."

This one must go down in history as one of the least romantic proposals! We are still married after 15 years so I guess it worked!

He took me to a favorite spot of ours, by the lake, got down on one knee and proposed..... What was really romantic is that he actually asked my dad for his blessing first which touched not only my dad but me as well!

We have been married for 8 years now!

My ex-fiancee proposed to me right in front of a jewerly store, it was actually kind of embarrasing cause i ruined it. We were walking right in front of the store and i saw an engagement ring that i loved and made a comment about telling him how i didn't think i would ever get one of those. He got mad at me took a box out of his pocket and said "here, are you going to marry me?" According to him he was planning on doing this whole romantic thing, but said i ruined it. the ring was small and nothing compare with the one i was looking at.He got married w/another chick while being engaged with me.

It was my 19th b-bay. It's tradition in my family, everyone has a b-day party with blowing out candles and everything, no matter how old you are. So... I blew out the candles and turned around to find my man down on one knee. He proposed to me in front of my whole family, and they all knew about it! It was perfect, the wedding was perfect, he is perfect! Gosh, I love him!!

i waited too long for the ring, so i did the proposing. there was nothing romantic about it really. i told him i was tired of waiting and wanted to get married. he said it was fine with him, as long as he did not have to wear a tie.
