Do you think it's possible at all?

Interesting take on this forum.

I don't know the answer - generally you can tell by the question if someone is generally interested in a particular event or subject rather than just asking questions on a false premise and peeing in your cornflakes just to try and get your goat.

There are some very good questions and answers once in a while. Some good insight and informed commentary on current and past events. Even then, however, you have to scan past the inevitable answers that are ignorant and hateful.

The majority of people here are either fanatics, they aren't interested in your question, they won't read it or care about it, they just use it to insult you or your beliefs.

Others are not ignorant but not informed either, there is a lot of propaganda by our medias and people take it as face value what their party tells them. There is also a serious lack of understanding history.

And lastly a lot of the people are lazy, you get one sentence answers, rarely can you reallly say much with a single sentence, it's possible but not often.

And with the steady stream of questions, people rarely return to their old ones so a steady back and forth is not possible.

There are some good answers who when I post a question and they answer, I pay closer attention too but I'm usually still steaming over the person calling me an idiot withour giving a reason or others telling me to get out of the country if I don't love it when who doesn't love their country more in my opinion is a matter of debate.

Sadly, no.

I think the anonymity may be part of the problem. People here (of both major parties) mostly fail to exercise the restraint that they might show when talking about the same things face-to-face with a neighbor. With no fear of a fist fight or a years-long neighborhood feud, people can spew just about whatever they've got bubbling inside them.

Great for release of pressure, not so great for meaningful discourse.

Sometimes there are thoughtful questions, but they usually only get about 3 or 4 answers. Look for the stupidest questions and you will usually see that there are many responses.

(example: Bush S>U>K>S??? 42 answers: I totally agree ANSWERMAN, you're awesome!)

So, yes, this is just a place for entertainment (for most) and a voice for the whackos who nobody else will listen to.

No

The simple truth is that the differences in this country are becoming so great that people use a forum like this to blow off steam.

Hopefully being able to blow off this steam will keep us from eventually killing each other in the streets.

Many have a "I know what I believe so don't confuse me with the facts" mentality but there is also a good share of those that actually look for the feedback of others they disagree with.

Well, technically, this is not a forum for debate. It's a forum for asking questions and getting answers. So...

I am thinking that the average age here is 14.

Just my observation.

Peace!

No, not at all.

Well, unless you consider "Bush sucks" and "Liberals are stupid" serious debate.

Yes, but you have to sift through the garbage to get to it.
