The Rip is to burn/rip a CD from your current playlist or any playlist you have in Windows Media Player. Or you can even drag songs into the player for it to burn. The Sync is so that you can connect your mp3 player and have windows media player copy all the songs you have in your player to your mp3 player. You might have to download a driver though from their website for Windows Media to reccognize your player. Id jsut use the software manager you got with your mp3 player.

You rip files from cds or dvds to the computer, they can then be burned. Sync is when you connect your mp3 player to your media player, it enables you to load songs.

Hope this helps
