and do you think all these microchips are recylable?

This is a new thing in the UK - they want to microchip everybin to make sure you are not puttng too much unrecyclable rubish in the bin each week.

Of course some things that are mentioned cannot be recycled: cat litter etc.... or can it? It can be sterlised and used as fertiliser, just as human waste is... (that is true, human waste can be used to fertilise crops!) So that would inlcude Biodigradable nappies and sanitry towels.

That is a wonderful idea and it makes sense..... That's why it won't happen! Businesses get their way.

Ok...so that means for women no more pantyliners or sanitary towels... everyone would only be able to use tampons which get flushed down the toilet and end up in the sea.
No such thing as Cat Litter or straw for hamsters/gerbils then...so pets would need to be kept outside all the time so they went to the toilet outside.
No disposable nappies... so mums with babies that have enough to do have to wash & dry cloth nappies all day every day..
And a whole lot of other stuff!
Also you are assuming all councils can recycle everything... I can't put glass, plastic film or carrier bags in my recycling. I have no car and am disabled so I can't transport/carry the little glass we have to a recycling point.

I've been thinking for a little while that the Government doesn't want us to produce any rubbish... this latest seems to prove my point!
Why not just start with a twinbin system nationwide to see how that works? (Rubbish bin & recycling bin collected alternate weeks). It is hard but it works!

I bet the House of Commons won't have their many wheelie bins tagged! Or shops and hotels.

Because it's better in a party-political terms to waste public money than to impose 'costly-to-implement' rules on big businesses who sponsor the political parties.

Personally I agree that the 'Nanny State' can't even work properly.

Cigarettes are bad for you so we'll tax them like fkcu to pay for the NHS. WHY NOT BAN TOBACCO?

We're filling the countryside with non-biodegradable waste, and it's all the consumers fault for buying those items. MAKE IT LAW TO USE ONLY RECYLABLE PACKAGING THEN!!!.

We need to tax at least quarter of your pay before you even see it because people are sponging state benefits. STOP GIVING THE LAZY BASTARDS MONEY FOR NOTHING AND ALLOWING THE EXPORT OF JOBS THEN!!!!!

Oooh, can you tell I'm a dissafected citizen??!?!?!

Is that what they do in the USA Microchip your bins... that's carrying big brother just too too far?

Come and live over here we have true democracy.... only Blair and his government seem to have other ideas. And they're be chaining us to the railings next.

But your idea is a good one, worth consideration I would say.

Well blow me I never knew that..Is this being piloted somewhere. I live in Bonnie Scotland.

Cause thats the easy way your know the government they like to do it the hard way. Thye should ban large packaging like on toys if you have you bought a toy lately you will notice that there is more packaging than anything else

good idea , we need to stop waste at the source ,even the simplest things are packaged so much is often difficult to even open them and then you have a heap of rubbish left over to deal with

because the businesses that make the unrecyclable stuff would not be happy and the government listens to businesses needs/concerns above individuals needs/concerns.

money talks basically.
