What are you commemorating?. I did one for my 60th birthday:

Sixty Today.

It seems like only yesterday, that I was a boy of ten,
The year goes by, the seasons fly, ‘till my birthday comes again
Much faster now than in the past, the tens come so much quicker,
Like a candle burning in the dark, the flame begins to flicker.

I’m getting old, I feel the cold, and now I look my age,
I’ve always felt like thirty-six, but now I fill with rage
When I think of all the wasted years, since I was twenty-one,
What might have been, had I but seen, what needed to be done.

But wait a moment, stop and think of what I have achieved,
A family, and all I need, the blessings I’ve received.
Some men have not a thing to show, for all their sixty years,
They spent their life, without a wife, with nothing else but tears.

The news of my first grandchild, which was the greatest gift
That I’ve received in all those years; it gave my soul a lift.
I’m happy looking forward now, to what I yet may find,
And thank my God, for all the love, I must have been quite blind.
