If your snoring is severe, you might want to see a sleep doctor, as that can be a sign of a serious condition (easily treated, but can cause heart attacks if untreated) called sleep apnea. If you have it, the breathe-rite strips will not help. Snoring is not funny nor is it a trivial annoyance - it's best to be checked unless you only snore when you are overtired. But if you snore every night (ask someone who sleeps in the same room/house, because you won't hear it) and especially if you snore AND feel sleepy during the day, ask your doctor about a sleep clinic - it could save your life.

BTW people who are not overweight can have sleep apnea - some people think only the obese can get it, but that is not true.

If your snoring is up to the point that your wife no longer wants to sleep beside you in bed, I guess it has something to do with your health.

Usually, obese people are highly prone to snoring, as well as those who are so tired after a day's work.

If by chance you have a medical condition that triggers snoring, perhaps you may want to consult your doctor so you could be given the correct advise to resolve it.

Otherwise, if you are just snoring because you are tired, then perhaps what you could do is try to engage in a nice night cap before you sleep. This will help you lessen the tension in your system.

Another way is for you to sleep sideways. If your partner notices that your snoring stops sleeping in that position, then it is only the manner by which you sleep.

You may also want to consider consultation as there may be blockages in your throat that's causing you to snore.

You should go to your primary doctor and discuss this issue with him and have him order a sleep study test on you. I am very serious about this. Many snorers have sleep apnea. (periods of sleep where you stop breathing) It can be very serious. They will do a study on you while you are sleeping and if you do indeed have a sleep disorder they will give you an apparatus called a
C-Pap machine that has a mask that you wear at night. My friends husband has had one for a few years and can not believe how it has changed both of their lives. They are more rested, healthier and happier.

try sleeping on your stomache. Sleeping on your back causes you to snore.
