Zeus had a father , Cronus. His mother was Rea.Cronus and Rea had a lot of children but Cronus was afraid that one of them is going to take his place some day because of an old prophecy that his mother Gaia gave to him. So,when Rea was having a new baby (Estia , Hera, Ades, Poseidon or Demeter), Cronus was eating it.
Rea couldn't stand that so , one of her babies(the newborn Zeus) tried to save it by sending it (with nymph Adamanthea) to a cave in Crete.Rea gave to Cronus a rock instead of Zeus and he shallowed it immediately.Young Zeus was growing up secretely, by eating nectar and the milk of the goat Amaltheia which was living in that cave too.
When he grown up he had a war with his father and he made Cronus to bring in life his brothers and sisters.Zeus won the war and after that he became one very fair king.He was the king of men and gods, everybody was respecting and afraid of him.He has not having a problem with his chiuldren because he was fair

Zeus did not forge an alliance with his father's siblings namely Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, & Iapetus, including Iapetus sons Atlas, and Menoetius for they have pledged their loyalty to Cronus.
Zeus was aided by his siblings namely Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon in overthrowing Cronus. The Hecatonchires (Hundred-handed), the Gigantes (Giants) and Cyclopes, who had been imprisoned by Cronus, assisted the Olympians. It is said the Hecatonchires helped the Olympians by hurling huge stones at the Titans—one hundred at a time. The Cyclopes helped by crafting Zeus' famous weapon, the lightning bolt.
2. When Zeus lay with Metis, a Titaness, he immediately feared the consequences for it was prophesied that Metis would bear a son more powerful than Zeus himself. In order to forestall these dire consequences, Zeus tricked her into turning herself into a fly and promptly swallowed her. He was too late: Metis had already conceived a child. In time she began making a helmet and robe for her fetal daughter. The hammering as she made the helmet caused Zeus great pain and Prometheus, Hephaestus, Hermes or Palamaon (depending on the sources examined) either cleaved Zeus's head with an axe or hit it with a hammer at the river Triton, giving rise to Athena's epithet Tritogeneia. Athena leaped from Zeus's head, fully grown, armed, and armored, and Zeus was none the worse for the experience.

Well, actually Zeus swallowed Athena's mother because he was afraid of that. That's why she was born out of his head. Also, Achilles mother was off limits to Zeus, because it had been prophesied that her son would be greater than the father.
