any ideas on how to do a great tippi hedron costume of her character in the movie the birds?

I did this years ago for Halloween. I went to a thrift store and found a 50's type suit and a blonde wig. Then to a craft store to get bird parts and fake blood. Sew or glue the birds to the suit, dribble the blood on and, voila, Tippi under attck.

Those who knew the movie got it immediately; I had to do alot of explaining to everyone else.

Let this be your inspiration... Just find a 50's dress at a vintage, consignment, or thrift shop. Gloves would be a nice touch, but don't forget the 50's style pillbox hat...

The fun part of the costume is finding the birds. In the USA, craft stores like Michael's and HobbyLobby actually sell fake, life-sized birds...

Attach these birds to your hat with 1/4 inch baling or chicken wire. You can cover the places where you have wrapped the wire on the birds and hat by gluing feathers around the spots w/ hot glue. Remember not to buy too big of birds, little ones will do.

A finishing touch would be to wear your mother's pearls, and get a bit of netting for your hat to drape over your face a little bit. Remember to wear classic makeup... red lips do the trick

you could also carry a birdcage with a couple of fake lovebirds in it.
