I've converted an avi file into dvd format then copied it onto dvd but when I play it, it starts ok but then the audio goes out of sync. How can I prevent this from happening?

Was the audio out of sync. before you copied it. ? if it is in sync. at the start then late on it's out of sync. then you cannot put in back in sync. because where ever you correct it you will put it out of sync. Else where - i think your find that your AVI file was corrupted & you've copied a corrupted file.

thats like my school anounce ments they have to go back an just realine thesound with the video i dont know how they did it but i know they have to do that every day

you have to get a better program with a higher quality format. or you could just get a program to edit it yourself >:D
