I don't know much about Indian politics. I do know that in politics in general name and face recognition are important. Given the popularity of movies in India and the number of actors it is only natural that they would stand out compared to the rest of the candidates. That's pretty much what happened in California.

No, not in this jamaana. What those actors know about the welfare of the people and the country? Some of them violate the rules and kill animals for fun. They kill people on the roads, by drunken driving.
What will happen if such people come to governance?

May be three superstars of southern India, did dominate the politics and have ruled the state by becoming Chief Ministers. It is not correct that this will be repeated again, since, the people know the performance of people like Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Raj Babbar, etc. They become MPs just to safeguard themselves against the IT people, not to serve the people. If they had the service motto, they need not come to politics, but can serve the poor on their own, as Rajanikant is doing in Tamilnadu.

Forget it. It was in the past. No more idol worship happening now with respect to matinee idols. The population is aging fast consisting of more number of senior adults than before, to be swayed by screen personalities. Action is now the watchword, be it from ex-convicts. The doer is in the credits. Presently we are the most well informed democracy in the world, Of course, I am not talking about the most ill informed democracies with respect to the niceties in civic life.

No. Half a dozen jokers from the 'drama company' cannot dominate the indian politics. The rapists, the murderers, the kidnappers, the landgrabbers, and other misc. criminals already dominate it.
