Any truly complete answer would constitue "abuse of resources" on this site!! LOL!! There are several conflicting theories, as noted here at the Wikipedia site:
"2 Theories
2.1 Alvarez hypothesis
2.2 Chicxulub crater
2.3 Deccan traps
2.4 Multiple impact event
2.5 Supernova hypothesis"
Also, this is only for the Cretaceous extinction. As Wikipedia further notes:
"It is worth noting that the Cretaceous extinction is neither the only mass extinction in Earth's history, nor even the worst. Previous extinction events have included the Cambrian-Ordovician extinction, End Ordovician, Triassic-Jurassic, Late Devonian and the Permian-Triassic, which is the largest extinction event ever recorded."
The theories for that last, largest extinction are, from Wikipedia:
" Explanatory theories
3.1 Plate tectonics
3.2 Antarctic impact event
3.3 Supernova
3.4 Volcanism
3.5 Atmospheric hydrogen sulfide buildup
3.6 Methane hydrate gasification
3.7 A combination "
So, checking all the links below, for all the extinction events, will give you an amazing amount of information. (Do I win?)

The last dinosaurs died approximately 65 million years ago. Although the cause of their extinction is still a mystery, climatic change, diseases, changing plant communities, and geologic events could all have played a role.
Lately, dinosaur extinction theories have been the subject of much debate and controversy. A recent explanation, supported by many scientists, suggests that dinosaurs died out soon after a huge meteorite crashed to Earth near the Gulf of Mexico. A giant meteorite, they reason, could have landed with an impact that kicked up enough dust and debris to block out sunlight for a long time — leading to a deadly chain of events. Without the sun, all the plants died; without the plants, all the plant-eaters died; and without the plant-eaters, all the meat-eaters died. Sounds reasonable. But there is one problem with this theory: Paleontologists have not yet been able to find dinosaur skeletons in rocks dating to the period of impact. Some evidence even seems to indicate that all the dinosaurs had died before the meteorite hit.

Probably the most popular theory right now is the Asteroid Theory. According to this theory a large asteroid or comet collided with Earth about 65 million years ago. Scientists think that such a large collision would throw so much dust into the air that sunlight would not be able to shine and plants and animals would die. The dramatic changes in climate that resulted from this huge collision were too much for the dinosaurs. They were not able to survive.

The most popular theory is that a huge meteor hit the earth in the Western part of Mexico, and the aftermath amounted to a layer of dust and ash, like a nuclear winter, which engulfed the earth, blotted out the sun, and killed off their food supply. There are other ideas. One, I think, involves an ice age, another blames overpopulation. You can undoubtedly find more details on the web.
