You only live once! If this is something you truly enjoy, as I do, then you shouldn't let your wife dictate what your enjoyment should be. However, if the reason she doesn't want you to buy a bike is financial and it will hurt the family in someway, perhaps she is right. Depends on if one of you are being selfish.

I would find out her reasons for her resistance and perhaps suggest good reasons for having a a bike ie.. Save money on gas, taking trips on weekends...ect..

I personally wouldn't let my mate dictate what my hobby should be unless it was hurting me in someway.

Hope this helps

She can't not "let" you. You are an adult and can do as you please...however it's kewl that as a partner in a relationship you respect that she's against it...hopefully she'd respect it if there was something she wanted to do, that you had reservations about.

Now, why is she not a motorcycle fan? Tackle those (or that) issues and see if anything changes. I saw someone suggest y'all take an MSF course together, and I think that's a grand idea. I met a nice married couple in May when I took the course...they now ride with the Southern Cruisers chapter I belong to. :)

If her issue is money (they're too expensive, etc) then show her how you can make it happen (getting a bike) without taking $$ currently going toward household expenses and living.

If she's afraid of them...then help her to learn that when operated responsibly, and safety equipment is used, they are tons of fun and the risk is greatly lowered...

good luck...

Your a grown man...why do you need to talk her into anything?......Just because she isn't into something doesn't mean your tastes should change too. Would you stop her from doing something she wanted just because you didnt like it?
Two adults should never try to control the other one especially if you are in a relationship. Makes for an unhappy marriage and bitter arguments. Try reasoning with her and explaining why you would like her to accept that your getting one. But even if she is still against it...you should never back down without good reason.
Now..if her reasons are something like...a friend or family member was hurt or killed on one.....then be supportive of her fears....but.....that doesnt mean that your going to get hurt also...stand up for yourself.

Take the safety course together! Then she can see and hear things for herself.

If you have any friends with bikes, see if you can borrow it and take her for a ride. Or have them take her for a ride. Perhaps if she sees how fun it is, she'll change her mind.

Outside of that, I don't have any practical suggestions. Whatever you do, if you value your wife/marriage, be respectful in anything you do and say.

You could just do it, but then she'll be mad at you. Far better to fnd a way to persuade her gently!

I really like bluffmike's answer.
When you let her make that necklace out of your testicles you lost all right to owning a motorcycle. Maybe someday she'll buy one and let you ride on the back.

Pick her up a cheap one that you can paint with colors/design she likes, and surprise her with it along with a training/safety course. Tell her you want to do it as a couple, and that you want to share your love of motorcycling with her. If that doesn't work, buy a whole lot of flowers and a some diamonds! If that doesn't work, send me the diamonds! lol

won't assist you to???? enable??? stable Lord.. get some balls. ok.. heavily, if her reason in the back of no longer desiring you to have the bike is economic and you will't discover the money for it.. it is a given. If it is to your protection, make certain which you take a bike direction and holiday secure. discover out what her genuine reason is for no longer allowing you to have it. If money isn't a controversy, grant to purchase her something of equivalent value or take her on a trip.

Rent a big Cruiser and take her out for a ride. If that doesn't sell her forget it, your wife knows you better than anyone respect her wishes.

The safety course answer with her is a good idea too.

If you rent a bike (cruiser) take her on a ride and don't scare her
In the saddle bags put a snack and small gift Ask her to learn to drive one, then you both can go on rides . And don't scare her
on the ride Drive like perfect person
I love to drive and take my guy on the back

Build her one too! Build yours regardless. Unless you're loaded it takes time to build it piece by piece. Mine is nearly finished that she "wouldn't let me do" and she's already ordered her motor and frame for hers! The closer mine got to being done, with no room for a passenger, it clued in you either come along on your own or stay home. Going for a cruise together beats staring at the walls.
