SOCIAL SECURITY:

Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.

You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan.

In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes their plan works like this:

When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.

Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments..

For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275, 000.00 during the last years of their lives.

This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries.

Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.

Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA..! .ZILCH...

This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds;

"OUR TA! X DOLLAR S AT WORK "!

From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into, every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer). we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement.

Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator! Bill Bradley's benefits!

Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.

That change would be to:

Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us

then sit back.....

and see how fast they would fix it.

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.

I did know about this, and it is totally sickening. It is a beautiful sunny day here, and I was in a real great mood; after multiple gloomy, grey cold and rainy days.....grrrr. This kind of thing just makes my blood boil. There are so many people in our own country who need medical care and places to live and on and on and the government continues to pay out Millions of dollars....for what...Who on Gods green earth needs this kind of income to live on after they retire.....I feel very blessed to be a person who was born here into a country with many blessings and advantages and freedom; and then you realize that it can be such a double edged sword. I have watched friends having to go through the struggle of having to place their grandparents and parents into assisted living; when they have become too frail and ill to be on their own, and watched all of their savings and property disappear into the graft of the health care system in the blink of an eye. I wouldn't be against this if the actual caretakers were earning these funds, but its the upper establishment in their fancy offices and homes. I don't even want to go into the drug companies and their graft. Who on this Earth deserves more in life and in retirement; the actual working class, and middle class (if that even exists any longer... ) who are keeping the country running and providing food and goods for all of us; or these politicians? There are so many things which need fixing in our system, and I don't know if people just don't want to pay attention. Is anyone really willing to do anything about this crap; are any of the already rich politicians willing to stand up and refuse some of this....Wouldn't that be amazing. We seem to spend a great deal of time helping a lot of other people; but cannot seem to really help ourselves. I spend a great deal of time trying to live more and more simply, not use up more resources than I and my family need, just to be a good citizen of the Earth; and then you learn about these Millions of dollars being given away....if these politicians gave up most of this, couldn't we fix all the problems of the homeless, the uninsured, the destruction after natural disasters...pretty quickly. The working person is expected to constantly make sacrifices and the upper crust...not so much. Well anyone really try and change this.... I have seen this topic discussed at least once if not twice a week on the tv news and/or the internet so the information is out there.....Maybe a few more people will come to a "light bulb" moment reading your comments here. We can only hope. Now I have to go outside in my yard and do some gardening to get my blood pressure back down to a normal level. Have a good day.

This is categorically untrue. False. Wrong. Since 1983 Congress has paid into social security and they receive benefits accordingly. Previous to that they were covered by the Civil Service Retirement System and they along with any other number of civil service employees were exempted from the social security system. Now they PAY into the Federal Employees Retirement System along with many other federal employees. It is true that they are given special status and receive a higher retirement benefit along with other federal employees (law enforcement, air traffic controllers to name a couple) but they also pay more into the system than those who are not given special status.

While I know it doesn't really apply to most of the modern senators or congressmen, lety's look back in history to see why this was created. It was created to give these people true freedom of speech, because else they might be blackmailed by their own boss who might not taken them back once their term was over, so they'ld had to vote for their boss and against their own ideals.

Nowadays, only awarding this to those who not already have a huge income would be saner, but you know how well politics and sanity go together.

Dont pay into it, you dont have to worry about it.
stop working, live off the land and let em think they have control.
they dont and when the bottom falls out they will see.

Dont rrely on social security cause it a int there anyway, it was stolen long ago.
money is an endless evil cycle unto itself which will eventually burn out.
