Hi! I'm 13 playing on an Elite hockey team and I have always dreamed
of being in the NHL. I am an avid runner, tennis player, soccer player,
and baseball player, but hockey is what I really LOVE. I am a very hard
worker and want a training regimen to make me a better hockey player. I
want something I can do everyday that will make me a better all around
hockey player mentally and what I want, physically. I don't want you
to tell me a bunch of drills, but a schedule I can use all year. I was
thinking a weekly schedule?

Thank You So Much!

P.S. I have a slide board, medicine ball, smart hockey balls, and some
minor weights!

Hey, good to hear you're a passionate hockey player. I grew up in Toronto and played hockey for 12 years before moving to California where I now play tennis. However, I was very close to pursuing a professional career in hockey when I was in canada. I played for the Junior Canadian olympic team twice. I played goalie but began playing RW alot. Here are some workouts and tips for you:

*Monday should be the day you pack up the carbs to use for the rest of the week (rice, pasta, wheat bread)
*Workout your legs and upper body every other day, giving a day in between to rest and work on your game (leg workouts should include long distance endurance jogging that use carbs to eat away the fat and maitain the protien) Use the medicine ball when working with free weights as well.
*Make sure you eat plenty of protien after you workout to repair your damages muscles.
*When working on your game, spend time on skills like skating, stick-handling, and shooting. Work on your game everyday, but less on the days you workout so you don't tire out your body
*Practice juggling and juggling against the wall to improve hand eye coordination. Juggle on skates as well.

You'll need to strengthen your thighs. Until you can do 20 squats on each leg, your quads are not strong enough. Get an exercise bike or go use one somewhere every day.
You'll need to improve your agility. You can do that at some sports training clinics.
Attend a variety of different hockey camps and clinics - puck handling, defensive training, Russians, Canadians, former players.
Still, after all that and much much more, there are few chances you'll even make it to a Junior B team or a Tier 1 college. Keep up your grades and your life. Just one hockey injury can bench you for life.

ask your parents to move to Canada. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn move here with their son so he can play and learn better hockey. just keep practicing running biking if you can go to the rink as much as you can and practice practice. don't give up. and if you don't no the people i said they are famous Hollywood stars. and if you played in Canada which we also have the best junior hockey league you can attend a college or a university and still play in the junior league.

and if you ever bump in to people like ZELDA does are the people that bring you down by saying if you get hurt. don't listen to her, its your dream of making it big you need to make it happened. if people like ZELDA keeps saying things like that to you can really hurt your game and your dream. never give up and remember always practice.
