Downloading is a procedure for transferring or retrieving a file from a distant computer. Opposite of uploading. Many Web sites have links to files such that you can simply click on the link and your browser will handle the downloading of the file(s) to your computer.
In order to download a file via internet, all you have to do is:
a) Click the available link
b) Type the download file full address
Example: The following link is a complete URL/Internet address for the Anti-Virus software from Grisoft.
http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/70/filedir/inst/avg71f_405a791.exe
If you click the above link, you will be prompted to download the file. If you type the full address on your address bar and hit ENTER, you will be prompted to download the file
Note: If you can't see the entire address above, hover your mouse over it.

downloading simply means getting something from some other computer on the internet to your own. They are called files. It can be a letter, a song, a photograph, a movie etc.
Downloading happens automatically when you click on the name of the file you want to download. There are programs that help you download files easily.
Click on the blue line below. and when it asks in a window, click on the button named save, it will save a file called fdminst in your My Documents folder.
After the file is saved on the computer, double click on the file named fdminst to start installation, it will install a program which will help you to further download files from the internet.

Downloading is the process in which you take something of the internet and put it onto you PC.
When you find something that is available for download there is a link that you would click on. Once you click on that you should get another box which says "save" (and sometimes "run" depending on what it is your downloading). Choose save and it will save it to your PC. Quite often once you have downloaded you may need to unzip it (and you should have winzip or similar to do this). You then may have to install it. THE FIRST THING YOUR SHOULD ALWAYS DO AFTER DOWNLOADING SOMETHING IS TO VIRUS CHECK IT.
If you want to get a picture of the internet - click on it using the right mouse buttong and choose "save image" and then save it.
Hope this helps

Downloading is bringing a file from the internet onto your computer. Typically, you can just click on the file and it will start by itself.
