Yes..........you can get water in the fuel tank and that will cause expensive repairs.
Plus it can cause rust and other forms of corrosion to set in and things don't work like they are supposed to!...
If you do not have a place to store the mower at least cover it........A small child's wading pool and a couple of bungee cords to secure it over the mower will work well.

It's called rust and will happen over a period of time - put under shelter or at least cover up w/ a tarp if you have no shelter - cheaper than a new mower

Rust getting on the flywheel, or on the coil (in my experience of some very, VERY rusted ones, it didn't mess with the spark)
BUT it will rust the deck, possibly (if the vent on the cap is up top) water get in the gas, air filter might get wet with water..... etc.....
BUT, putting a tarp over is almost as bad..... why? traps condensation underneath!!, allow the tarp to breath a little so you can prevent this.

Heeeey, the place have you ever all been the final 2 or 3 years?!? the element now's to mow your leaves and enable them to characteristic lower back into the backyard's soil. you additionally can purchase particular lawnmowers now with a mulch putting. My neighbourhood does this each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and our lawns are green, green, green each and each spring and summer season. We by no ability rake up the leaves except we'd choose to crush them and upload to our gardens. yet you may desire to mow each and each week previously the wintry climate rains and snows come alongside. :o)

If you have to leave it outside, throw a piece of plastic over it. There is an air filter on your mower that will not react well to water over time.

Leaving it out just once won't hurt it too much, but leaving it out all the time will indeed cause the metal to rust and the plastic to deteriorate over time. I'd put it under something if I were you.

about the only thing that it would hurt is it could develop a thin layer of rust on the fly wheel and cause it to break the firing between the flywheel and the coil, thus resulting in making it hard to crank or no cranking. it is just as easy to push it under cover or cover it .

Externally yes! Internally no! The paint will probably look faded and weathered, it shouldn't affect the way it runs.
