Our daughter used to eat all sorts of baby foods (sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, etc.) We recently stopped breastfeeding and changed to formula. Coinciding with that change is her sudden refusal to eat anything but pears, bananas or applesauce. We've tried putting the food she will eat on the front of the spoon, with the food she's refusing on the back of the spoon..she spits it out. We gave her a spoon to play with while we feed her. Failed, too. I know it can take several tries to get a baby to like certain tastes, but she used to like these things. What should I do?

Babies, just like adults go through phases with food. Make sure she is eating enough - we often think they should eat more than they actually need to. Continue to offer her a variety of foods and most likely it will resolve itself.

This site should help.

When my son was the same age, he wasn't interested in any solid food at all... just milk. He would eat guacamole and sometimes applesauce, but nothing else.

Wait her out... I'm sure your daughter will come around to different types of food in a few months. My son did. It took him until he was almost a year old before he'd really eat a variety of things. Also, try waiting until she's good and hungry to feed her. She might discover that once she gives the new food a chance, it's not so bad. This is the method I employed when introducing new vegetables (that I was certain he wouldn't like) to my little boy. He was a lot more likely to eat a type of food that he otherwise wouldn't even try if he was good and hungry.

Well nowv that you are giving her fruits she does not want the veggies. The fruit taste so much better.Try not giving it to her for a few days and just keep offering the veggies. Also you can mash up your veggies at dinner. She may like them better than baby food. You can try microwavable sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes mixed w/baby food.If she likes baby cereal you can also mix a little bit of food w/that.My baby would'nt eat if he seen me mix the food, but if i snuck it in there he never noticed.

Just give her time. My daughter goes on eating jags. She'll eat really well one day, eating everything I put in front of her and the next day or even week she'll pick at stuff and hardly eat at all. She's healthy, smart and does just fine. (She's 15 months and 22 pounds)

When she gets hungry enough she'll eat anything.

Look into pediasure. They make many different flavored meal supplements. Great for kids who arent getting their daily vitamin intake.

Have you tried offering her some other new foods? Maybe she's just bored with what she's been getting?

Or maybe she's ready for more texture?

on your next well check appointment with your babies doctor talk to him about the change...but for now...don't stress yourself over it...as long as she is not losing weight or getting sick periodically, then she's fine...continue to feed her what she will eat...
