My father has more or less. He is a JFK democrat from the 50's and agrees today's Dem's are liberals. He actually voted against Kerry in the last Election.
He also sends out a month newsletter about the way politics are going, and change needs to be done.

I started off as a Democrat throughout college. However as I started reading and paying attention to what was going on I realized just pulling a lever because they claim to be for the people is silly.
I disagree with the party's socialist stance and desire for the distribution of wealth (not their own, just everyone else's). I disagree with the conservative branch of the Republican party as well, but believe the Republicans more closely reflect the views of middle America.
I'd vote for a viable third party candidate for president except that unless that party can control the congress it will be a long, lame four years. Plus, while a third party candidate will appeal to independents and some moderates, but about 60 percent of the voters just vote for their party, making it more of a religious act of faith than electing the President of the United States.

I converted to the Democrats 6 years ago from the Republican party because of George Bush and the extremists on the conservative side who I think are worse than the far left.
I'm a better man for it.
