It is 14 days from the (beginning date) of your last period not the end date. If you are 28 day cycle then you should ovulate the 14th day after the beginning date of your last period.

Actually have sex the day before you ovulate. Allow time for the sperm to travel. Sperm can live up to 72 hours in your body. Also after sex do not get up. Lie there for at least 45 minutes. Dont go to the bathroom or put on your clothes. I know it can be gross but it works. Also dont have sex every day. this reduces your partners sperm count. Allow time for it to build up. You can have sex every other day will be fine.

Ovulation usually takes place in the middle of a cycle, consider that a cycle is usually 28 days i.e. between one period and the next, so you have to calculate from start to star, however long your period is.
In your case 7 days went by when you had your period so 7 days later you should be ovulating (total of 14).
However ovulation can start +/- 2 days earlier and end +/- 2 days later so don't just consider the actual day.
Good luck!!!

Actually 14 days is only an average guide....

Your best way to find out it to chart your cycles by taking temperature etc. this will allow you to work out when you are likely to ovulate.

Ovulation can come early and be delayed... but the leutal phase the time after ovulation to your period will remain constant.

For eg. I get my period 12 days after I ovulate. So my Leutal phase is 12 days.

After you ovulate your bodys temperature increases.

For women who are not charting they say to have intercourse every second day from CD 8 - 25

Most professional say that you are most fertile 14 days after the onset of your period. Here is a web site that I used to help me calculate when I was ovulating (http://www.babycenter.com/calculators/ovulation/). This will give you a better idea of when you need to have intercourse. If you are trying to have a girl you are supposed to have sex a few days before ovulation because girl sperm live longer than male sperm and this increases your chances of concieving a girl. My husband and I did that and 9 months later we had our baby girl. If you have sex during ovulation you are more likely to have a boy because the male sperm swim faster and they are more likely to fertilize the egg.

I hope this informations helps you and good luck.

It day 14 of your cycle not your period. Day 1 is the first day of your period. You do not have to still be experiencing your period (you actually should not be) on day 14 still. The average women would try around the 14 day. Try lots of times. It wont hurt anything. My doctors advice is that if you want to get pregnant have lots of sex!!! You will not get pregnant if you are still menstruating . Wait till its finished.
