It's a phrase that means women are wealth-seekers because the way to make a woman happy is thru 'stuff' - in this case diamonds.
I disagree with this sentiment but I think I might be in the minority. Not all women are greedy wealth-seekers that won't give you the time of day unless you're loaded.
I much prefer inteilligence, compassion, and a sense of humor to money or jewelry!

When something beautiful is not easily acheivable its called special
Would you not like to be special? You may relate yourself to preciousness of diamond and its color may end-up attracting few people and call diamonds your best friend(absolute assumption)
I willl go for a decent girl with intelligence rather than a stupid girl wearing diamond
"Diamonds are girls best friend" is just a phrase truth is a good friend is worth more than a diamond

It just perpetuates the myth that women are gold diggers looking for others to fork out for luxury items. I don't think there is any truth in it these days for the most part (although there are always exceptions).

well ladies do love the diamonds.... especially know with the whole raise your right hand campaign...
It really depends on the girl. diamonds are not my best friend, but I know alot of girls whose only aspiration is to have a big rock on their finger!
