Sounds like you know it isn't good for you. Try substituting soda for some low sugar juice or crystal light. Also, drink more water. Just replace one soda a day with a different beverage and go from there.

I had the same problem a few years back. My husband and I would go through a 12 pack every day. It was the sugar and caffine that we were addicted to. So, what I did was started buying caffine free diet soda. The headaches were a drag for a few days from the withdrawl, but I was still satisfying that "mental" addiction, so it wasn't too bad. After a while, we were able to cut out soda more and more because it wasn't a physical addiction anymore. Now we drink mostly ice water and soda is a rare treat.

I drink soda all the time. I don't think it is a problem. If you like it and you are still physically healthy then keep on drinking.

Switch to diet? You could be easily addicted to sugar, or to caffeine. You may not feel the effects now, but with all addictions, one day you will wake up and wonder why you feel like a Mack truck hit you.
If you can't stop, that's a huge red flag. Try putting it off, just for an hour, or just for a couple hours. Try to make an entire day. Then go for two. Do anything you can to not drink it. You may want to consider an addiction counselor even.

Soda is full of sugar approximately 7 teaspoons in every can so you're at risk of diabetes obesity etc....some people can drink gallons of the stuff and others cant. It took me 6 months to ween myself off and in addition to walking and a complete change in diet I lost 40kg and I felt much better, I drink it occasionally but no where near the quantities I used to drink it.

I had that same addiction, until stomach surgery forced me to give up fizzy drinks entirely. I substituted iced tea and lemonade, both of which are better for you than soda.
(It's possible the extreme soda consumption contributed to the need for the surgery, so there's another incentive for you right there.)

Fruit juice (with no added sugar) is a good replacement. Water really is the best thirst quencher, but I wouldn't advise drinking tap water; the government requires poison chemicals in your tap water so that you don't get old enough to collect social security.

If you feel good physically, why would you quit? My buddy, who was in top shape just went vegetarian because it was the "healthy choice." If you feel good, why change anything? People who make healthy choices die just the same as people who eat steak 3 days a week.
