I think they did pretty good in Batman Begins.
Robin, Elijah Wood
Joker they did right in "Batman" with Jack Nicolson
Riddler they did right with Jim Carrey - The writers made the role suck by trying to turn those sequels into retro 70 disco montages.

The original Batman was hilarious. Batman Begins was done entirely differently, but was completely awesome nonetheless.
