I was just reading some back-logged answers on here and the same people that said "New Orleans is full of sinners and lazy people" are the same people that change their tune in light of a Dr. Phil special...
It's not just Dr. Phil either - why do Americans obey their TV set?

Because essentially, much of this country (not all), are pack animals. They follow the leader and don't think for themselves. I'm not saying everyone does this, but enough do that it makes the rest of us look bad.

Most people who take Dr Phil or Dr Laura seriously forget that these type of people are in the ENTERTAINMENT business. They won't get air time unless they are entertaining and watched or listened to. People are confusing being entertained with the ability to do critical thinking.

b/c people are stupid. television in and of itself is not a bad thing, but believing everything on it and watching it instead of doing things that need to be done is a bad thing. the people who believe everything just b/c the news said it would have probably believed it if it came out a newspaper too. really, everything on tv these days needs to be taken with a grain of salt. as for dr. phil, i don't get it either why people listen to him so much when what he says is probably advice they've been hearing their whole lives anyway. maybe it's just b/c he's on tv that they listen to him.

Dr. (and I use the term loosely) is a friggin idiotbox! I'd rather be cured in a huge jar of olive oil until my limbs soften and fall off one by one than to ever listen to anything that man has to say!

Talk about "Cure"... that'd put life's little annoyances into perspective huh?

Personally, I prefer the methods Bob Newhart's character used on that Mad Tv Skit.

"Dr. I am afraid of just about everything."

"I am going to give you two words that will cure you....STOP IT."

"But Dr. I'm afraid of being buried alive it a box."

"Well STOP IT... Or I'll bury you alive in a box!"

because of course, if a doctor says it, and namely a 'highly acclaimed' doctor, then he must be correct...well this is what the average human being would like to believe. it is a shame tho, that they have this monster preaching rubbish to them, and they all are like sponges, absorbing his advice, and getting ready to practise it. if only they would open their minds!
