That is such old news, and quite frankly I'm tired of hearing those people whining and crying about it. They expect the rest of the country to take care of them for life. It's time they move on and try to help themselves, rather than sitting on their butts complaining about the rest of the country not supporting them! Look at all the waste and abuse going on when they were given support.

They knowingly chose to live below sea level, why should we pay for their choice of living conditions? Worse yet, why would they want to re-build below sea level again????? Build on dry land like everyone else.

The crisis is over, and the government stepped up to save as many lives as possible. It was their own ignorance that got them in that position to begin with. Let them take responsibility for their own lives now. Turning this into a racial thing, is just a pathetic ploy to getting everyone's sympathy and abusing the system. It has nothing to do with race - get real.

Yes the situation there is still tragic and shameful and money should be flowing to the people there who need to rebuild their lives.
The rest of the world looked on in horror as the powers that be allowed the people of new Orleans to suffer and die. I'll never understand how a country like the US could let that happen to its own citizens. And it is still happening as the rebuilding is crawling along. Kinda makes you wonder if this happened in a "white" city if the results would have been the same. I think not.
I live in Canada and am very fond of our US neighbour but this I do not understand.

as a US citizen, I do NOT think that my tax money should pay for their ignorance. They knew the city was below sea level and had the chance to leave. They also knew the risks of living there and chose to ignore them.

The people that took money and wasted it doesn't need to get any more. The people that want to re-build should be given vouchers, redeemable only at certain places. (My opinion)
America.

The first thing they should do is kick the mayor into the Gulf. I can't believe they reelected that useless jerk.
