Love is giving someone the ability to hurt you.... but trusting them not to!!!!!!!!

Love is a rare thing.Some people are loved automatically, by loving people. Then there are people like us. I did not think love existed either, I didn't have loving parents, people hated me because I was hateful. That was all I knew. Now I have a little better understanding, I am cautious because i've been hurt so many times in my desperate attempts to be loved. But I have experienced love finally. It is a fragile and thing, rare to me. And it means so much more, because of the experiences I've had.

You will hear many different definitions, but I believe love is a deep sense of attachment. There are many different forms under the broad heading of love. Love for a mate, love for a child, love for friends, television shows and chocolate to name a few. We tend to screw it up by attaching too much significance to it with all that Hallmark-inspired b.s. We also expect it to be like it is portrayed in the movies and on television and then get disappointed because real love isn't like that.
I felt the same way that you do, that love didn't really exist or that I was fundamentally unlovable, but then I met my wife who has just the right blend of bad judgment and mental illness to love me. All I can say is that you will either know it when you find it or, like me, it will sneak up on you and you will come to realize you are in love. If you try not to let yourself get too jaded and continue to put yourself out there, risking being hurt from time-to-time, you will find it eventually.

Oh it freakin exsists! Trust me, really. It is the most powerful emotion that we have. Have you never owned a pet before? Have you never had a best friend? Mom? Dad? Sister? Maybe you are a little younger and you haven't gotten to the stage where you are ready to love someone or something. That happens a lot. The love that broke my heart was younger than me and was not ready to love. He didn't have a clue. But it exsists.

Mothers and Fathers love their children---Mother Theresa's whole life was about love--so was Martin Luther King,Jr's, Love is self sacrifice, an act of will, it is "unconditional," and merciful, forgiving. There is love between friends, between spouses, love that exists for humanity--read Mountains beyond Mountains, and about the the life of Helen Keller. You will understand how these individuals overcame obstacles and barriers and learned to love and became inspirations to millions. Of course love exists--or we would not...

Love is simple if you are willing to put someone else before yourself. If you are willing to stand inbetween them and danger. If you are willing to give up something that makes you happy so they can be happy. Love is real and it does exist and if you are lucky enough in this world you will find and have true love before you die.

The Bible has the best definition of love and it is the 13th chapter in 1st Corinthians. Please read it... The type of love described there is "agape" love which is translated as "unconditional" love. There are different kinds of love. Although you may not have experienced it yourself, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist... Ask God to show you... DON'T just follow your heart because it, too, can be blind...

Love is when you wake up thinking about that person and u fall asleep doing the same and when you are sleeping you dream about them...love is when you cant picture yourself with no one else but that person...love is when you cannot get that person off of your mind love is the greatest and worst gift to give.
