...does this explain why they say criminals are not bad people, but just misunderstood with an unfortunate upbringing, and that terrorists are really freedom fighters?

Just curious...

I don't think I believe in freedom fighters... it would be nice to be able to take sides, but honestly, even though I'm a liberal america-hater as you would probably put it, I don't think people can win their freedom by blowing a bunch of people up who have nothing to do with their oppressors, as is happening in Iraq

I do however believe that this wouldn't be happening if the U.S. hadn't invaded that nation... if you're against terrorism, as I think we all are, think about the future. in Iraq, the instability we've created is causing a massive exodus of the peaceful population, massive guerrilla recruitment, and an influx of terrorist organizations and guerrillas. The new government is actually less secular and more fundamentalist than Saddam's; Saddam Hussein was unique in being, though a frequent user of capital punishment like the former governor of Texas, an electable Muslim leader who promoted a secular government in a major Islamic nation. He was probably our best hope in preventing the spread of Jihadism in the Middle East, and now Iraq, a nation with the infrastructure to become a real problem, will possibly become a nation with a primarily terrorist population, with a weaker than ever central government which nobody will trust because of its origen and ties with the U.S.

However, I do think there's a difference between organizations which fight civilians and organizations which only attack military targets... but there are currently NO organizations which only attack military targets, not Israel, not the U.S., nobody. I don't claim to be an expert, but I do think Hezbollah is a mainly defensive organization with no desire to eliminate Israel except within Lebanon.

Of course people are capable of evil. And it depends on the crime as to whether someone is evil or not. Serial killers - sick enough to be evil. Child molesters - sick, maybe evil - definitely need to bel locked up for life. My friend's cousin is serving 20 for murder because he busted in on his wife and another guy having sex and he killed the guy in a fit of rage. Horrible and he deserves to serve time, but is he evil? Generally, I think "evil" is left up to God. Justice based on laws and protecting our citizens is up to us.

As far as the terrorists vs. freedom fighter thing: that's a tricky one. Were our Founding Fathers not considered terrorists to the British? It all depends on which side you're on. I don't think there's any question about bin Laden and Al Quaeda - because they're not fighting for any real freedom. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization because they crossed national borders. The Palestinians see it as a fight for land, and - most of their fighting occurs within their own borders - I do think that's different. I utterly 100% disagree with violence as a tactic and I condemn it, but it is true in some cases that one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

Here's an example: Russia insists that it's fighting terrorism in Chechnya. Yet, Russia is backing a break-away province in Georgia, insisting those people are freedom fighters. Which is right, which is wrong?

Far Left Wing Bleeding Heart ACLU Adoring Liberal Democrats
are fervent believers that the ills of the entire world are all caused by America.

Islamic Homicide Bombers, in fact Islam itself and Muslim madmen that strap explosives around the torsos of women and children and send them to blow themselves up in the name of their Blood soaked God Allah are just misunderstood and down-trodden.

Many of these Liberals are emotionally disturbed and off in La La land where they wish the return of a huge burgeoning all-controlling Federal Government and the propagation of a Welfare nation!

I am curious why you would think this about a "liberal".

There are evil & bad people in the world.
Criminals are bad people.
Terrorists are evil criminals.

Oh give me a freaking break...liberals think criminals ought to be rehabilitated....yeah theres no excuse for the crime...but maybe with a proper education and a little help...while they're in jail could be the silver bullet...but oh yeah that stuff costs money and we should be spending that on wars and not fixing society

I don't think terrorists are freedom fighters but unlike conservatives...liberals have used our BRAINS to figure out that when you goto to war in Iraq...you create terrorists you don't destroy them...

You don't see people at peace rallies holding signs that say "I break for osama" or "go sadamn"

No, criminals ARE bad people. There's no excusing their behavior. As for terrorists, the term is so hackneyed that by now everyone is a terrorist.

Yes. We do. There are some people that just are evil. We just recognize that most people are not evil.
