If they wouldn't be such idiots I would say "no", but since I deal with them daily I'll say "yes", a slug shoveler

At one time there may have been, but there have always been extended summer vacations in that vocation. Lately I have noticed that the children in the public schools are on breaks and vacations MORE than they ever were when I was a student! So you probably could not ask for a job that will give you more holiday time and spring breaks (even in grades 1-12). Now my taxes have ONLY GONE UP for the schools, so I can only hope that with the additional vacation days that the teachers are getting paid more now than they used to be.

Tis no more necessary profession (other than joining the military in my opinion)...but your heart should really be in it, as should the student's own hearts! I have met more people who have a High School diploma who can barely read or cannot read at all in my own profession (I work as a therapist for a community based mental health care center and also at the county jail)...So if you want to do the student and the world a good service, then open the world of reading to all that you teach. I do not support the idea of a High School Grad. that cannot read or write, what ever happened to LEARNING? I don't want to blame the teachers, the students OR their parents, but I have to tell you that somewhere in there if you have a HS Grad that cannot read or write, there must be some BLAME...so if you teach for a career, REALLY teach...don't just ignore your duties and pass those who are not able to PROVE that they can make the grade! Please.

Good question, I know that there are more troubles for teachers and more dangers, but if you are going to do something, do it well and with all of your heart and spirit! Good luck in your life's endeavors!

Depends on your point of view . For me yes ,I don't know how long I could handle 30 to 40 kids or teens in a class room all day .

I am sure there is, but teachers are important, and we already are experiencing a teachers deficit. How can schools run without them?

Well, the likeability of a job depends on the person's outlook. it's subjective, really.

Lots of them. Teaching is a labor of love -- an underpaid labor of love. I wouldn't try to dissuade someone from teaching, but ask yourself why you might want to do it.
