I am looking for a new SUV, 7-8 seater. With good gas milage. I am thinking of the hybrid highlander. Any highlander users, please give your opinion.

Try asking on some Highlander Hybrid groups:

The battery never runs out of power, unless maybe you're towing up a long steep mountain. It will take a while to get used to the sounds of the engine with the eCVT, because the sound of the engine is related to the power you are requesting, and not the speed of the vehicle. It'll never "red-line" so don't worry about it. (Think of it like you riding a 1-speed bicycle - you'd huff and puff pedaling up a hill, but would just coast down the other side.)

Oh, and there's the usual hybrid system warranty for 8 years/100,000 miles for a Toyota.

Note that the US Federal income tax deduction of $2600 for a purchase of a new Highlander Hybrid is only through Sept. 30, 2006, and after that it drops down to $1300. So, get your order in sooner rather than later!

Handling/power can't be as bad as claimed above - I know that several local police departments are wanting to get one when it's next time to add/replace their fleet.

the hybrid system is weak.. the battery dies out more often than u think n once that happens the engine revs like crazy in vain to get more power but never really happens.. but i guess its not that bad of an SUV. the 2nd and 3rd row leg room is horrible.. its too small to be a 7seater..

none because hybrids are dangerous and just my opinion but ugly and they sound horrible its like your driving a air conditioner id rather get a gas efficient 4 cylinder but if i had to choose the new honda crz looks promising
