Our brains are hard-wired to want to believe in god(s). Plus it's a cultural thing; parents teach their kids that their religion is the only true religion. So religious myths live on and on.

My spell checker purely blew up. i do not position self belief in god. Why? because there is not any evidence. If he does exist so what? He would not do something it really is about a similar as not latest. yet another element, the conception in god has not strenthened humanity in ordinary words weaken it. imagine of the crusades, the violence, the sacrafice. it is all coused through religon. Now i understand I received't get brilliant answer because my beliefs are diverse then yours. yet, purely keep an open ideas in the direction of different religons.

it's no different then asking "why do we thirst?" we will only reach for water if we have thirst, and without it we would never have the desire for water. soon when have reached for water we soon reach for a variety of drinks in many colors and flavors. we are answering an inner call. thirst calls for water and hope, worship and a host of priceless desires from our eternal side have a call for only what is everlasting. we believe in God because it is in every human being to desire worship even if we worship nothing but our bank accounts or ourselves. we are born to reach for that which is beyond us, yet is very able to dwell within us. Hey, it's no different then why we ask questions. We are all REACHERS.

It's easier to believe than try to figure out the universe. Because we can't figure it out anyway.
There are no answers. People take up belief in God because they think they He provides answers. But, in the end, they are only sefl serving answers. Religion is a selfish exercise. It only annoints those who are easily aligned into it's rulebooks.

In another question you ask why we call mother mummy and in this question you ask why there is a god. I imagine that you are asking questions of this nature because they are all one and the same. To a child's mind the mother and father are omniscent and omnipotent people who shelter them from harm and to a man God does the same. Does this mean that he exists? No, all it means is that people need for him to exist.

Our ancestors were very brilliant people, they founded an easy way to cultivate people, they created an imaginary power named God and said He is watching your every move, and He will punish you for every evil you commit, that's how we started to believe in God, in fact there is a power, it's within you..
