I'll stop and pick up any amount. Picking up a penny is considered lucky and this little phrase goes along with that: "Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck". I'm not necessarily superstitious, buy why risk it, right?
LOL -- when my son was around middle school age, he used to like to super glue change to the sidewalk out front of our house. He took great delight in watching from his bedroom window when people stopped and tried to pick it up.

I would say probably the same amount that attracted your attention. It has to be paper money, because coins are plentiful nobody wants a dirty, strange, and old coin rattling in their pocket possibly amongst a bunch on other ones. And if anyone hasn't noticed rattling pockets because of coins are annoying!
Dollars are nice and quiet and their quantity is just high enough. Just think, a dollar can get you a soda, a quarter usually can't.

I'll pick up a penny. I don't care which side is up; if you find money on the ground, it's good luck. I have a 5 gallon container of pennies. When it's full, it's about $1000. It all adds up.

It has to be at least a quarter for me to pick it up...Even when I accidentally drop change on the ground unless it is more than a dime I don't even bother to pick it back up.

i think u shouldn't have spoiled the fun for a small child, no offense.
they get so excited, it's priceless.
next time u see a dollar or more or less on the ground, pray that a youngster will have the chance to pick it up.
