Actually, Pluto is no longer a planet officially as of last week. It will be reclassified in a new category of "dwarf planets," similar to what long have been termed "minor planets." The definition also lays out a third class of lesser objects that orbit the sun -- "small solar system bodies," a term that will apply to numerous asteroids, comets and other natural satellites.

"International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto of the planetary status it has held since its discovery in 1930." - http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/space/08/24/pluto.ap/index.html

So the story is that a bunch of astronomers got together and did loads of research and they concluded that Pluto doesn't meet the "Rules" to qualify it as a planet, so technically it isn't a planet anymore. But people have been, protesting against that change. So there is a possibility that Pluto could become a planet again.

It's a planet!!

Some odd smart-*** scientists are trying to delete PLUTO from the SOLAR SYSTEM!

Can you believe them ? They are so cruel...

I read an article on CNN the other day. They mentioned this complex problem about PLUTO, and if they should add two other planets..

ODD STUFF.

Pluto was a planet until a few days ago when the scientists labeled it a dwarf planet.

It WAS, and recently there has been debate on what the definition of 'planet' is...just the other day they demoted it to 'dwarf planet'...

Rest assured though, that Uranus is still a planet!

I am so amazed at these other planets. It is scary to think of global warming and one day the earth will disintegrate because of us getting to close to the sun. That's why they are really doing al this research, to find out which planet could be considered earth. This world is something else.
