I've been working for a company who pays more than average of what people my age or older than me is earning. But then I have to work at night and i've been really sick and getting tired of it. I feel like there's no growth for me in this company and no challenge. And I was offered this day job,the salary is a lot smaller but then I like the working environment and what my role will be in this new job. How about you? Would you go for a night job that pays more but you're no longer happy there, you have to literally drag yourself to work. Or go for an average paying day job with a nice working environment? Thanks :)

No I do not think money can make you happy It may help pay the bills and buy nicer things but in the end it will take it's toll on yourself and the people around you!

When we have trouble at work it usually affects our social and personal life and we also do not do as well on that job that has become more of a burden than a help to us!!

I would take the other position after giving proper notice! It seems to have already caused you some health problems stress can do that!!

Just know that money can not buy happiness , i find that working a night job will mess with Ur family life . Dating is harder when u work nights unless u find someone who works nights as well . I think u would be much happier in a position where u can see that there is room for growth . When we stop growing we become almost stag net and there is no happiness in a stag net life. Take a chance , if u continue to do what u have always done , u will continue to get what u have always gotten . A Lil change can make make a huge difference .

Well, no it does not buy happiness. I wonder, If money was not an object of concern, what would your dream job be or what do you envision seeing yourself doing on a daily basis? I used to work a night job for a number of years and the money was great but truth be told.....the majority of life is spent during the day and after a while my job (even thought I was always surrounded by people) felt very lonely. I am still searching, like you, for a combination of job satisfaction/great pay/happiness....I like to think that it exist so I will keep looking...hope you find something.

I had this choice about 7 months ago. Go to a high paying job that had a 75% turn over rate, horrible hours and a really stressful enviroment, or go to a lower paying with a great enviorment and something I enjoyed. I went with the lower paying job, and here's how I decided on that. 1) If I was unhappy, I wouldn't stay long and in the end I'd make more money at the lower paying job. 2) With being unhappy and stressed you are more likely to get sick. Therefore, costing me money in medical charges. 3) I'd be sick or not come in, getting myself fired. See (1). You have to look at your lifestyle and your options and decide what is best for you. If your lifestyle can afford a cut in pay, then go for it. If not stick it out til you can get something comparable. Good luck!

In a world where we may die tomorrow.... how can you even ask that question? I myself, as well as many of my family and friends, wasted so many years of our lives making more money than we needed, to buy things we really don't need, and to have that title and business cards, etc. that we thought we needed, only to have ulcers, headaches, divorces and unecssary stress. After 9/11, I questioned my idea of happiness and if I had really obtained it...

Well, needless to say I left that 5 figure job and am now on the beach looking at dolphins every day and having champagne every Friday night as I watch the sunset, and am doing just fine making half of what I used to make and am so happy it's ridiculous.

All this babbling just means....go for what makes you happy, not for what everyone else believes happiness is. :)

Actually, I think it goes "money can't buy happiness" and it's true. If you need to bank some bucks, then putting up with a less than perfect job, to get that money may be worth it. However, if money isn't a huge issue, then why work at a job you dislike? We spend 1/3 of our day at work...that's a lot of time! It's a waste imo to spend it somewhere you are unhappy, because that tends to affect your life outside of work as well.

Can you put a price on happiness/contentment?

Any way opportunity never comes often, if you are young, earn enough money, you should target your limit, then save the money for your future, then go for an average paying with a nice environment as you mentioned, it's not easy, need a good planning, and action it..

Happiness is the key,I worked nights for 6 years and let me tell you it takes its toll on a person mentally and physically and if you are unhappy in what you are doing whats the point of doing it ,life is too short to be "dragging your self to a job where you are unhappy, take the day job and enjoy your evenings you rdays instead of sleeping them away.

Dogs are trained to be ferocious, and unless you plan on hunting large game there is no reason to own one. Your personal habits are the thing to guide you. Be honest... if you can be downright lazy, find a breed that won't Need a lot of attention. If you are going to be his bestest friend in the whole world, collies and terrier are usually good bets. If you are looking for a "guard dog" and have kids German shepherds have decent tolerance for children. But KNOW what your level of dedication will be first.

i think Homer Simpson ht the nail on the head when he asked Mr Burns, "Does your money hug you when you come at night? Does it say I love you?" having spent 5 years in a job i hated i would go for happiness. the only time i would go for well paid yet unhappy job is if i had dependants such as children or other family members.
