If she takes him to court for child support, he can request a paternity test, that he doubts he is the father. The court will order it. Depends though, on what state you are in.

The only way that he won't be responsible for the DNA testing, is if it's done through the court system - and the results show that he is not the father.

If paternity testing is done prior to the child's birth, the paternity test alone will cost around $2000 - and the birth mother must have medical reasoning for the procedure to be done. Such as amnio or CVS testing for history of Down Syndrome, she's over the age of 35, etc. No prenatal DNA test can or will be done, for paternity testing alone. It's only done as an "add on" to the medical testing procedure.

And no pregnant woman in her right mind would pay for this expensive DNA test on her own - when she will soon have a baby to pay for. Babies cost a great deal of money - before they are born. They require diapers, clothes, a bed to sleep in, a carseat to get home in - and maybe even a few toys if the mother has money to spare. Not to mention the loss of work she'll have to endure - from morning sickness, to bed rest, to healing from birth. She already has to come up with a lot of money, while making less.

Through the court system, DNA testing normally costs anywhere between $250-500, not including court and attorney fees. The adjudicated father is the one who is responsible for payment of his tests, and the court costs associated with it. He is then responsible for child support, reimbursement of at least 1/2 of the birthing expenses of the child, obtaining full time employment & a health insurance policy for the child.

The state will arrange a paternity test, and he only has to pay for it if he IS the dad (at least that's how it is in michigan). If he isn't the dad, the state picks up the tab. Also, private paternity tests only run about $100 online, which doesn't seem like such a bad price to get the other girl out of his life if he's not the dad.

Where I live if she files a claim through court that he needs to pay child support and he denys the baby. The courts will give a DNA test! Good Luck girl I know how you feel! My fiance's ex tried saying HER kid was his and she took him to court like I said and he WASNT the father! Little slut... I laughed at her! HaHA But good luck with that!

well first he should know if he has a chance of being the father, if he knows 100% without a doubt and is willing to put your relatonship on the line, then he needs to tell her to get a court orderd paternity, then the state will pay for it, but if he thinks there is a chance he could be the father, then he needs to be a man and pay for one

if he really doesn't think it is his, then make a deal with her, she has to pay for the test first, and if it does come back that the kid is his, he will repay her for the test, along with starting child support

if she has to pay for 2 or 3 (or 4) test she might start thinking harder about whose it is

If he had sex with her it could be a good investment in his future either way. The sooner he knows the sooner he can catch up lost time or have it over with. It is tax deductible as a medical expense.

Tell her that she has to pay for DNA to find out if he fathered the baby, because he doesn't believe its his, and won't pay a dime until she proves it
