Since I've made the investment in the vehicle I want to ensure I get the most for my investment. So any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

well mostly hondas consist of all good things.. i dunno if u bought an LX r a EX r a 2wd r a 4wd but i'll tell u all of them.. for one thing the drive is fine n u'll notice that the vehicle's power is more than sufficient.. Unlike most SUVs CRV's power limiter is higher so if u do push the car it will get past 130mph.. The five speed auto is not the greatest tranny ever, it hunts for gears a lot and its shifts on uphills r bad.. when u go from flat land to uphill u'll have to brake for a sec n then accelerate immediately for better power usage.. Fuel mileage is great n so is cargo space.. if u bought a EX, the wierd thing is the sunroof dial is located to the driver's reach only as u prolly already noticed and only the driver can operate the sunroof.. if u bought the LX well there is no sunroof.. if u bought 2WD LX, u'll find the car has trouble finding good traction even if the road is a little wet.. This is because the tires on the CRV r really small in width n the grip is horrible.. the tires struggle with traction but u'll get thru if u've 2wd.. if u've AWD u're fine.. and one more the CRV is not meant for off roading and no matter what u do don't try heavy duty off roading on it.. as for highway ride n 80mph its the best SUV to go fast with.. b'sides the Porsche Cayenne n others.. but those r more expensive.. I'd say u got a great SUV for the money if u got a 4wd its an excellent buy.. oh and the transmission is next to the steering wheel so u'll have to get used to that.. but the good part is next to the guages there is the thing that indicates which gear u're in r what u've shifted into..

Hondas are hands down the best car on the road.I had an Accord for 13 years, and the only reason I had to get rid of it, was because the body rotted, and I couldn't get an inspection sticker without paying $800.00.Other than that,it ran great.I now own a CRV,and it is awesome.I change the oil faithfully, and rotate the tires every 5000 miles. My boyfriend has a Ford, and it's always in the shop.Sadly,American cars are inferior in all ways. They are designed to start breaking down when the warrenty runs out.I didn't get a warrenty with either of my Hondas, and never needed one. They just run and run.You will get many many worry free years from your Honda.Good Luck.

I was in the car business for over 6 year. I use to appraise cars.

To maximize your investment get frequent oil chages very 3k miles. dont go to the dealer, unless they can do an oil change for about or under $20.
Keep your CRV clean inside and out. If you clean your own always use clean cloths and water. Dont use dirty rags to dry your car. At a micro level dirt in a cleaning sponge or dry cloth can create hair line scratches, so keep the cleaning tools very clean also.
DO NOT SMOKE! Quickest way to kill the vaule. Years of smoke can never get out of the interior, no matter what you use, trust me.
Dont drive Bare footed. I dont know why anyone would do such a thing but they do.For resale killer there is nothing nastier when a car smells like dirty skanky feet funk.yuk.
Use fabreeze car refresher, great stuff, keeps your SUV smelling clean and new for years to come.
If you have a gargage keep it there. You can slow the aging process for your CRV.The out side elements can be harsh.
Above all as you do your best to take care of your investment dont get stressed out over it keep a level head about it.You will get scratches, dings, cracks and so forth over time which is natural wear and tear.

It is a wonderful vehicle. The above answerer who said that they sometimes hunt for gears is correct. Mine is a 2003 LX with running boards and roof rack. Looks very nice. The cargo room once you flip the seats forward is awesome, I can fit my Great Dane and my triathlon bike and gear with no problem. Great acceleration. I have had no problems with traction, I live in Wisconsin and we have beastly winters, and it was great in the snow. You may want to invest in a different brand of tires when they start to wear out, I went through the Bridgestones pretty fast. I guess the only thing to look out for is how it hunts for gears sometimes, and I get a weird whistling from the roof rack at high speeds, but that's pretty minor stuff. Enjoy it!
*BTW, all CR-V's are assembled in the states. Retirement has to do with how much money you have saved up. I guess you should put more money into a 401k that invests in high yield foreign stocks like Toyota or Honda. Makes more sense than putting money into GM or Chrsyler who may not be here in 10 years.*

i have a 2004 i love it goods things you can see the windows and mirrors are great really adjust well ansd seats to , engine is good and if it still has the honda battery it last a very long time maintenane is easy and depening on where you bought your honda they are quite courteous . some things to watch if your stereo has autolock make sure you have the code for the stereo in case your battery has to be changed because if you dont your stereo locks up then you have to go to the dealer to get the code and for them to reset it, thats the only thing with mine that has been a problem . also have fun finding all the stoarage places they are cool and if you have a table in the back it comes in real handy . im in florida so see you on the highway

Congratulations on your new CRV. I've got two Honda's and have never had one problem with either. The most important thing you can do for your vehicle is to follow Honda's scheduled maintenance program. They built the product and know how to maintain it. You're going to hear a lot of crap from people. Remember... it's opinions.... and noise. Enjoy your vehicle. It's a great machine. Also make sure you wash it regularily. There's especially in the winter with road salt and all.

Enjoy!

I have a 99 CRV EX 4X4 with 100K miles on it.
I change the oil every 5K miles even though book says 7500 mi.
I do the big maintenance as instructed (30-60-90K etc)
Keep it clean & treat it good, it will reciprocate.
You reap what you sow.

good car. I have one myself,an '03 to be exact. it rides nice, good pick, lots of pockets and bins to store things. 2.4l engine with 160hp,realtime AWD.,very smooth riding, but I never am comfortable in the seat. My T-Bird seats are comfy. leather and cushiony. Te CR-V is pretty stiff and it numbs my butt. But overall,I'm happy with it.
