Legally - there's probably no requirement to do so, especially after 9 years. Ask your attorney/barrister.

Morally - that's up to you to decide. Does it bother your conscience?

Practically - Can you identify and locate the holders of the debt that was written off? A lot of companies have merged, been sold, or gone under. Are you in good financial shape now? Can you pay this old debt without putting yourself at financial risk again?

If all else fails, consider donating the money to a worthy cause.

Contact an atty to see if you can have a bankruptcy undone.

if not, resolve what your able for the sake of what is right and move forward as honorably as you can.

It would be a shame to resolve the matter and not get credit for it though.
