I don't know of any definite problems but, my thinking & what I did while pregnant, is just avoid as many artificial ingredients as possible.
No hydrogenated oils, no fake sweetners, more water, juices & milk than soda or alcohol. It is only a short period of time, so why even take a chance? I have an incredibly healthy & intelligent 12 year old now who has never had ear infections, has had maybe one or two colds a year...

Sweet and Low is saccharine, and has been linked to possible risk of cancer.

Nutra Sweet and Equal are aspartame and have been linked to various health concerns. Personally, aspartame gives me migraine headaches, and affects my husband the same way. I avoid it like the plague.

Splenda (sucralose) is "made from sugar" but the fact is that it is sugar that has been chemically altered with chlorine. Yes, chlorine, like you would put in a swimming pool. I don't know about you, but I filter my tap water to get the chlorine OUT, I do not want to eat foods that have it added in!

None of these are "natural" in any way, and all carry certain health risks. It is safer to eat natural foods, limit your intake of processed foods and sugars, and use natural sweeteners when you want a treat. I would be especially cautious during the first trimester when your baby's vital organs are at their most vulnerable stages of formation.

Stevia herb is a natural alternative for those who want a sweet taste with no added calories. This is safer than artificial sweeteners. In Japan, aspartame is illegal and the Diet soft drinks are sweetened with Stevia instead.

I could seem into choices for exceptional cakes to serve my visitors and incorporate whatever (might be a first-rate fruit cup) that I would have myself. OR might be a chocolate fountain that involves the contemporary end result so you do not dip, however your visitors do???? I've now been to a few weddings that skipped the typical marriage ceremony cake and as an alternative we had an massive unfold of chocolates ... pastries, cookies, and so forth. ... even sugar loose choices for the diabetics within the crowd.

Anything in excess is bad during pregnancy. But for sweetening beverages - a little will not hurt you. I checked with my obgyn because I have a 1 cup of regular coffee every day, and I use sweet-n-low, he said it is fine! I know splenda is the best out of all of them - and a very good substitute.
