Leave Iran alone, they will work it out for themselves. They were liberalizing until a couple of years ago, and had what was considered a moderate government, as theocracies go. The US presence in Iraq was one of the main reasons Iran took a few steps back toward a more rigid rule.. Even now, however, there's still some freedom of speech. American reporters have strolled around Tehran and easily elicited a wide variety of opinions from Iranian citizens. An good example happened yesterday when Ahmedinajad had a press conference and reporters asked some probing questions about the Iranian economy. To paraphrase Condoleeza Rice, democracy takes time.

It's a hard thing to do especialy as we dont have enough freedom ourselves.
I would say its near on impossible at the moment, would be great if we could though, im not sure that iranians would know what freedom is about. It is terible the way women are treated there, will it be possible to stop them building a nuclear bomb. would they ever use it if they did.
Iran, lets all send someone in Iran a flower sending them love n peace. The only way to free Iran i think is to turn the people there against there own government and clergymen.

30 years ago Iranians thought freedom would only come if shah left the country. they had no idea what they wanted; they just wanted shah out of the country and finally when it happened, after the revolution, after 2500 years, there was no one in charge, all the sudden there was a vacuum! and that is the wost thing that can happen to a revolution because everyone has a chance to come out on top. unfortunately ayatollahs took control of our country very soon. Iranians will never taste freedom by getting help from Americans. they don't give a damn about our people. we've been down that road. they just want oil. that's all they care about. you cant bring democracy to some country. democracy must be understood by every single person in Iran. till that time we must wait!!

Why do Americans insist that everyone wants our "type" of Democracy? These people should be left alone. Let the UN allow the world to sanction them and leave them the hell alone. I realize that that would be impossible for the Bush regime. They want to monopolies Iranian oil. Our biggest threat isn't nuclear...
The biggest threat Iran poses to the United States is petropolitics?

In the end...Its all about the oil...
Why don't we help the mass Genocide in Dafar. they could use some help with a democratic government. However, they have no resources we can use...So why Should Bu$hCo bother...A war there can't pay for itself!

How can we give freedom to Iranian people?

By leaving them alone.

The people of Iran have to decide if thats what they want.

They just cracked down on womens dress again.

The first answerer is living in a alternate reality.

If left alone Iran will gleefully develop a bomb and then tell us oil is now 300 a barrel. Or else.

Get it?

who's we, should they (we) really consider themselves as even capable morally or otherwise of granting such a broad and distorted gift as freedom to a close friend or neighbour on the same road, let alone to a country or culture so unfathomably far removed from possibly everything you have ever seen or known in your entire time on this planet?
think about going to a close acquaintances house and offering them this 'freedom' I mean how absurdly patronizing and impossible this gesture now seems in it's new context.........

If it is the sort of freedom that we have given to the Iraqis, I am not sure that the Iranians would wish to have it imposed upon them as well!

Also, does the current American stance towards Iran not strike anyone else as incredibly hypocritical when they helped remove an elected regime in Iran in 1953 in order to replace it with one more amenable to its wishes? namely, the oppressive dictatorial Shahs.

The present Islamic government which overthrew the American friendly autocratic Shahs in 1979 only crime has been its deep opposition to America.

The Americans single desire is a friendly government in Iran, and they have demonstrated that it is irrelevant as to which form it takes; whether it be democratic, dictatorial or a mixture of both as at present.

We can't give it, we can give them the chance to take it for themselves .
You have a Government which cares nothing for it's people , incites terrorism and threatens war on the rest of the world .
