You can use white paint... one part paint one part water.. then brush it on and then wipe it off.. You will want to spray the floor boards with a clear protective coat .. so that you can wash it when it gets dirty.. since floor boards take a lickin'. I actually purchased white primed floor boards, and they looked white washed.. I left them primed.. Shh.. don't tell anyone :)

You can buy a graining tool its plastic and cheap, Leylands sell them and probably B+Q along with other DIY stores.
You can use any white paint but a durable oil based is best and it is better flat than gloss satin finish works well.
Just paint a bit of the boards and the run the graining tool over it. They have different patterns to achieve various grain effects.
It spreads the paint leaving some parts with slightly more on in the shape or form of the grain its very easy.
You should use a sealer when it has completely dried, something like 'Klear' from your super market its used to put a surface over floors to make them easier to clean and form a barrier between your expensive floor and anything you can throw at it.

Whitewash isn't dense adequate - in case you observe it so this is thick adequate to oblierate the colour diffrence it is going to probable flake off. Use floor paint which incorporates lots greater pigment and is altogether a greater effective proposition, particularly in case you desire to bathe the floor down periodically. you may matt it down with somewhat bit white spirit if that's oil based to offer lots the identical result.

very cheap and simple as mentioned use a watered down white latex paint and wipe it off before it dries, some will have soaked into the grain and will be left behind. Thus giving you that pickled wood look.

if the floor boards have indentions, scratches and cracks in them
you could have a masterpiece. simply brush them over with white glaze making sure to get it in the cracks and wipe off the glaze just enough to achieve the desired color. let it dry as directed then top coat with clear polyurethane.
if the floors are very dark you might want to paint them with a lighter color first....or not....try a small hidden section first
