I'm not asking this because I'm opposed to gay marraige, I'm asking becasue I don't know how I feel about polygamy and it seems a little hypocritical for me oppose one and not oppose the other, they are both just lifestyle choices right?

Ok I'll be more specific, if you legalize gay marraige but still make polygamous marraige illegal is that not wrong?

Once again, you misrepresent facts. A gay marriage is the same thing as a straight marriage. Two people seeking to become one. Polygamy on the other hand was one guys attempt to justify his illegal behavior by building up a religion that claimed that God said it was okay for him to have more than one wife. If you look at polygamists now, they practice incest (which the bible is against), pedophilia, and in some cases, force.
Just because I support gay marriage, which the church used to condone up until the time of the Crusades, doesn't mean that I support polygamy. Which doesn't make me a hypocrite.

No it does not make on a hypocrite.
The Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law for all citizens. It says laws cannot discriminate based on race, ethnicity, veteran status, religion, and - and this is the big part - gender. The argument is that not allowing someone to marry someone based on gender is un-Constitutional.
There is nothing in the Constitution that says you can't pass laws based on numbers in a group.
A church can define it however it likes (a church could marry multiples as far as I'm concerned if that's what they believe - they just can't have the legal recognition and benefits) and restrict same-sex marriage. That's the churches prerogative and it's protected. The government cannot discriminate and therefore same-sex marriages should be recognized. Multiple marriages do not offer the same benefits to society and it is not discriminatory under the Constitution to deny it.
Marriage is legally set up to make it easier for TWO people to care for each other and care for their families. Gay people can and do have children; many in the same ways that barren couples do. Denying them marriage rights is harmful to them, harmful to their children, and harmful to society. There is no proof that children raised by same-sex parents are harmed or overly-burdened. Do they get picked on more? Sure. That's not the family's fault.
There is no evidence that children raised in a polygimous home benefit - in fact, there is a great deal of evidence that it harms children, and more than a majority of the time, harms women.
I think I've made it abundantly clear that the two are very separate things and it is therefore very easy and not at all hypocritical to accept one and oppose the other.
____
Why do I always have to follow some moron who can't tell the difference between a consenting adult human and an animal that can't consent to anything, let alone marriage? Can a fish sign a contract? Why can people like that marry and raise children, but a good, tax-paying gay or lesbian can't?
How's this for a compromise - you have to either have a minimal I.Q. or take a class and pass a test to prove you're not an idiot to get married and reproduce or raise children?
I'd give up my support of gay marriage if we can pass a law that doesn't allow idiots to pass their stupidity on to their children.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Polygamy is man having more than one wife in early days of Mormon Church this was permitted. When Utah became state it recognized only one husband/wife. There are off shoots of Mormon religion who believe in polygamy by using force upon these individuals.
The debate over gay marriage has become political issue with an attempt to amend the constitution and this is no place for such action. It has been voted down twice by the House and Senate.
If two men or two women chose such course let them no one is taking away your right to marriage.

Why would you have to support people having more than one spouse if you support gay marraige? They are two totally different things. That makes no sense.

Polygamous marriages are already taking place across the country even though those marriages haven't been blessed by civil authorities.

Polygamy is more complex an issue than that.
Marriage is two people becoming one.
Polygamy is not.

No, that makes no sense. They are two diffrent things completely, so you could support one without supporting the other and not be a hypocrite.

I don't support gay marriage, marriage has a religious overtone and religions usually do not accept gays. I do support civil unions, where an adult couple would have the same civil rights, taxation rights and federal rights as a married couple with out the religious overtone on them.
