By band I mean people who play instruments on stage and sing. A boy or girl GROUP sings and dances and do not play instruments on stage and therefore do not count.
Tirade over. The Beatles are my number 1 favorite band. If you want to give me a reason feel free. Any time period from big band swing to modern rock, does not matter.

Yay, the correct definition of a band!!! My favorite since I was ten, always will be my favorite, is REM. I've defended that choice against many a naysayer, and I stand by it; they've inspired me, spoken to my heart and my funny bone, and they were the last concert I saw in 1999 and if I never go to another concert in my life I'll be satisfied with that :)

I have to say Lynyrd Skynyrd.
But there are many others that rate at the top for me also, like Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, -- I could go on and on, but that gives you an idea.

Led Zeppelin, pioneers of hard rock. I love everything about them. I don't think they made a song that I don't like. Their riffs and lyrics just blow my mind sometimes.
